Our Gender Reveal

Reminiscing on how we did our gender reveal now that our babygirl is 2 months old.

We did three things:

  1. A gender reveal party

  2. A photoshoot for social media

  3. A cake for my family in Mexico (social media part 2)

Pregnancy Announcement

This was our pregnancy announcement to our immediate family and friends so it was only fitting to have our gender reveal be related to the Toy Story theme.

P.S. Toy Story is my favorite Disney movie.

My best friend found an Etsy creator who did a Toy Story themed video for us that announced “It’s a girl" at the end of the video. I’ll link a similar creator below since I can’t post the video because it was for private use only. Toy Story Gender Reveal Video

As we watched the film with friends and family, we sat in front of this backdrop my best friend helped me put up of a boy and girl kimono. We had just visited Japan so in a sense, that served as our baby’s souvenir for having been to Japan while in my tummy. That’s the reason we wanted to include this in our gender reveal to show how she was already a world traveler before even being born.

The rest are details of our gender reveal party:

We used these for my sister in laws baby shower too as they were sturdy and reusable.

We also got photoshoot props. The dessert treats were made by my sister in law, my best friend’s friend, and the cupcakes by my cousin. (Again, my village really showing up for our babygirl and us).

My guests chose one as they walked in, I had so many left over I was able to use them with my students at school who also wanted to be a part of the celebration.

Social Media Part 1: We had a photoshoot at the park, these were the main part I posted the gray image and then waited some time and posted the second image. Let me tell you my followers were so invested!

Social Media Part 2

Unfortunately there’s no close up of my cake but it was a white heart shaped cake that said baby and our last name on top with pink frosting inside. We used this cake cutting session to share a live Facebook post for my family in Mexico. My guests at the party contributed by eating the cupcakes and acting surprised in the background again since they had already watched the video.

Now you may be thinking, “woah this girl is all over the place” but that’s just how I am. I am so indecisive but I wanted to include all my ideas in this really special moment in our lives. Share in the comments what would you try or how did you decide on your gender reveal?
